Body Control Pilates for strength, flexibility and health

The Pilates Method of exercise originated 80 years ago with the work of Joseph Pilates, a keen sportsman who developed it as a way of maintaining his own personal fitness. He then went on to work with leading New York ballet companies, as well as entertainment and sports personalities, all attracted to a workout that built strength without adding bulk, balancing that strength with flexibility, and achieving the perfect harmony between mind and muscle.

His core philosophy and exercises have since been developed, and today an estimated 25 million people in the USA take regular Pilates classes and some one million in the UK.

How does it work?

Pilates works with the inner architecture of the body to:

•

develop ‘core stability’, essential in maintaining healthy posture

•

increase body awareness and control, making it easier to manage stress and to relax

•

reduce stress on joints and muscles

•

reduce pain in the lower back or other problem areas
